New camera! I have a new camera!!!
Well... Actually, it's not new, it's used. But it's new for me. In a way. Because it's a Canon and I'm already a bit used to Canons.

Got it from a colleague. A real bargain! Got the camera, a couple filters, a couple batteries, three CF cards, cleaning tools, a mini tripod and normal one, and also the backpack. I already ordered a fisheye lens for this. I'm really anxious to start using it! Always loved photos using a fisheye and I could never shoot one myself.

The camera looks a bit dated I agree. It's only natural: it's a 2002 model. I did consider buying a more recent one but considering the bargain, that it comes from someone I can trust and also considering my lack of photographic expertise I thought "I'll get an SLR later..."
It uses CF cards like my older PowerShot A60 (it's actually newer since it's a 2003 model... Now I'm confused...) which, by the way, is now decesead. I think the CCD is broken. I'll have to investigate and see if it's worth repairing it or not...

Anyway, new camera means I need to start taking better photos.
So it's time to start chasing my usual models.

It's only fair that I mention Christine Kessler's blog. Simple reason: I was inspired by it.

I still get this question quite a lot so I figured it'd be better to answer this publically where everyone can read. Ofcourse there are so many things to keep in mind that will apply to every individual who's thinking about modelling, but I will keep it simple and start with the basics...

Do you have pictures? You will need some. They don't need to be great, but you need to be able to show photographers you want to work with what you look like. In the beginning you will not want to get paid for shoots because you are a starting model and you will want to work with good people who you should be honored with to work with without paying them. (generally called "TFCD"- Time For CD, with all your pics on a disc or "TFP"- time for print- and less usefull in this digital era)
This is about building a portfolio.

When do you have a full and finished portfolio? Never! It is always a work in progress, because you are too, always busy improving yourself and working with better people. The trick is to use good pictures to get even better photographers to work with you, and build your way up to a kick ass collection of pictures that represent you, your look, and your interests well.
